CUCC is a welcoming community of spiritual seekers, with an ever-evolving progressive view of the Holy, that is actively engaged in building a world with justice for all creation and part of how we do live this out is an ongoing commitment to showing up. We show up one another, for ourselves, for the earth and for a world with more justice and love. We have opportunities to connect for fun and for spiritual growth and as well as opportunities to volunteer that are both longer term higher commitments as well as chances to show up once and share your time.

October 4th, Guest Preacher Rev. Dr. James Ellis Fouther, Jr.

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois Reverend Dr. James Fouther is ordained in the United Church of Christ. He has served UCC Churches in Miami and Sarasota Florida, and Denver Colorado. He is married to Angelle Collins Fouther and they are the parents of two daughters, Danielle Aida and Daryn Alexandria Fouther.

He enjoys golf, reading and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. This is the fraternity of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He holds degrees from Illinois Wesleyan University, the Chicago Theological Seminary and Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri.

James has served numerous Boards and committees including the Board of Directors for Ecumenical Ministries, Inc. Denver, Habitat for Humanity Metro Denver, the Denver Health Community Clinics and the Northeast Denver Housing Center. In these capacities James’ leadership has meant better health and housing options for traditionally oppressed, predominantely minority communities in Denver and beyond.

James began his work as UCC Western Regional Generosity Officer in March, 2023.

41st Annual Boulder County CROP Hunger Walk!

Location: First United Methodist of Lafayette — 1255 Centaur Village Dr, Lafayette, CO
Date: Sunday, October 18, 2026
Registration starts: 1:00 PM
Walk begins: 2:00 PM

Community UCC will once again be participating in the annual CROP Hunger Walk. You can sign up to walk with our church group or make a donation on the website: chttp://events.crophungerwalk.org/chw/event/boulderco. Go to the link and search for Community UCC Boulder. (There are two Community UCC churches participating in the US - make sure you clink on the Boulder church.You can then sign up as a walker or make a donation to one of the walkers. Talk to Pete Terpenning if you have difficulty signing up or making a donation. It is still possible to write a check for donation and give it to Pete to be passed on to the treasurer of the Walk. On the website for the Boulder Walk you can find a map of the course we will be walking and other information about CROP.

Boulder Church Commits $40,000 to San Lazaro Effort

Boulder, CO— August 14, 2026
Today, Community United Church of Christ, a progressive Christian church based in South Boulder, is announcing that it is committing $40,000 to support the residents of the San Lazaro mobile home park in their effort to purchase the property to prevent an investor from buying the park. Boulder County has a law which gives mobile home residents 120 days to purchase the land themselves, which is what the residents are actively pursuing.
San Lazaro is home to more than 800 residents who have built their lives here and are our neighbors, co-workers and friends. This site is among the few areas in Boulder that offers affordable housing and CUCC wants to help protect it.
“As people of faith, we believe that it is our job collectively to ensure everyone in Boulder has a place to live. To us, church is a verb and love calls us to action, especially in a time like this,” Rev. Nicole Lamarche, Lead Pastor of CUCC said. Founded in the 1960’s along with the Table Mesa neighborhood, Community UCC has been actively engaged in making the world better from the beginning. “We are a committed group of people that never gives up on doing good,” Linda Woods, longtime CUCC member said. “We hope to inspire others to join us!”

Recovery Cafe

Since June 2025, we have been engaged in a collaborative effort welcoming Recovery Café Longmont to CUCC every Wednesday evening. From 5-8 p.m. we meeting, starting with puzzles, socializing, coloring and more and then share a meal, followed by Recovery Circles. This is a community effort!
